Blue Sky Network’s SkyLink 7100 satcom system has completed DO-160G qualification testing and the SkyLInk single-channel Iridium antenna has received FAA technical standard orders C159d approval, the San Diego-based company announced yesterday. The dual-mode communications system is compatible with next-generation Iridium satellite service and local 4G/LTE networks.

Under the DO-160G qualification, SkyLink passed electrical, mechanical, and weather-related tests. "We are incredibly proud to have met these high industry standards,” said Blue Sky v-p of business development Jason Hicks. “SkyLink is now the first certified Iridium Certus 100 airborne solution offering mid-band satellite data and high-definition voice.”

SkyLink is designed for airplanes and rotorcraft, as well as UAVs. Blue Sky said the system offers new capabilities for infrastructure monitoring, cargo delivery, aerial firefighting, EMS, government, and crew/passenger communications. The SkyLink 7100 is one of four products offered by Blue Sky in the land, sea, and air markets.
