West Star Aviation has added four new airframe and powerplant technicians to its employment rolls following their graduation from an on-the-job training (OJT) program that the MRO provider is providing.”

The four technicians completed the 30-month program while working at West Star. Several more apprentices “are well on their way to” completing their A&P certification and the number of graduates from the company’s program is into the double digits, a West Star spokeswoman told AIN. The four new technicians are Dan Yates, Lance Schumacher, Brandon Shemonia, and Molly Kircher.

“This has been a great program for West Star, as it aids us in acquiring new technicians which are already familiar with our facilities and offering them the opportunity to continue their career within an environment and culture they are already accustomed to,” said Eric Valdes, West Star’s A&P apprentice program director, who is based at the company’s St. Louis Regional Airport operation in East Alton, Illinois.
