Jet Aviation (Booth 1678) has delivered its quietest and lightest VVIP interior to date, installed on a narrowbody jet, the Swiss MRO said this week at NBAA-BACE 2022. The completion includes the MRO’s first installation of flexible organic LED (OLED) screens in a VVIP interior and follows “over eight years of research and development in optimizing sound and weight in VVIP interiors,” the company said.

The three certified 55-inch curved OLED screens are integrated on either side of the cabin above the window line, following the curvature of the ceilings, an installation that reduces the cabinetry required to house the screens, further trimming interior weight and maximizing floor space.

“Not only do the OLED screens provide opportunities for reducing the weight of the cabin, but they open up a new realm of possibilities in design and entertainment,” said Jeremie Caillet, Jet Aviation senior v-p of regional operations for EMEA.

To certify the screens in-house and install them according to aviation requirements, Jet Aviation worked with an electronics partner on a series of qualification analyses and tests to meet temperature, vibration, weight, sound, electromagnetism, flammability, and stress aviation standards, the company reported.

Jet Aviation’s Basel completion center can install such curved OLED screens in both completion and refurbishment projects. The narrowbody delivery follows the completion in 2021 of Jet Aviation’s quietest widebody completion to date.

“To redeliver an aircraft that is not only light but also exceptionally quiet is a fantastic achievement and testament to our continued work and innovation in this area,” said Caillet. “As we strive towards creating the ultimate customer experience, we are excited to continue to lead the industry in developing and shaping what is possible in cabin acoustics.”
