Vision Systems, a licensee of suspended particle device (SPD) smart light control technology developer Research Frontiers, is demonstrating the many uses of SPD SmartGlass products at the NBAA-BACE convention in Orlando, Florida this week. 


Recently acquired by the material science research and development company Gauzy, Vision Systems (Booth 3488) holds 41 contracts with original equipment manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers. Its 41 projects include 17 aerospace programs, nine marine programs, nine specialty vehicle programs, three railway programs and three recreational vehicle (RV) programs.

The SPD SmartGlass light-control film allows passengers in aircraft and other vehicles to instantly tint their windows, keeping out sunlight and heat without maintaining some transparency. It also blocks harmful ultraviolet and infrared radiation in both clear and tinted modes, which helps to keep the vehicle’s interior cooler and more comfortable. Vision Systems claims the SPD SmartGlass can also reduce a vehicle’s noise, fuel consumption, and carbon-dioxide emissions.
