Bombardier kicks off today its three-day Safety Standdown conference at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita. This year’s conference, the 26th, is expected to be attended by nearly 400 flight crews, maintenance technicians, dispatchers, and schedulers. An additional 1,000 participants from 25 countries typically view the conference’s webcast.

“Moving Safety Forward” is the theme of this year's conference, focusing on leadership instilling a culture of safety and questioning whether industry professionals are doing enough to advance safety. Sessions also will center on safety management systems, assessing safety in the hangar, emotional intelligence and safety culture, and decision-making in go-arounds. Popular speakers will include Tony Kern, founding partner and CEO of Convergent Performance, Amy Grubb of the FBI, and Ryan Retelle from the Advanced Aircrew Academy.

“Bombardier’s Safety Standdown is known for bringing industry experts and thought leaders together for three days to tackle the latest topics and challenges in aviation safety. These leaders not only provide practical skills training but also inspire participants to create a climate where safety is the overriding driver behind every decision,” said Chris Milligan, Bombardier v-p of pre-owned aircraft services and flight operations. “We expect that the knowledge and relationships participants develop at this year’s seminar will help disseminate higher standards of safety and professionalism throughout the industry and around the world.”
