Metro Aviation recently delivered an Airbus Helicopters EC135P2+ to Melbourne, Florida healthcare system Health First for use by its air ambulance service First Flight. The EC135 is equipped with Metro’s standard EMS interior, a Ferno litter, and the Outerlink IRIS satcom and tracking system. It is also single-pilot IFR equipped and will replace an older VFR-only helicopter.

“We have provided services for HealthFirst for the past 28 years, operating their previous EC135 for 23 of those years,” said Metro COO Kenny Morrow.

Metro Aviation is a worldwide provider of completion services for all missions and types of helicopters and specializes in the EC135 and EC145 with several supplemental type certificates developed by the company. It is an FAA-approved repair station, approved Airbus Helicopters service center, and FAR Part 135 air medical operations provider at several locations across the U.S. The company is privately held and is one of the largest traditional air medical providers in the country.

“First Flight is excited to take receipt of our new EC135P2+ that allows us to continue offering the latest technology for the crew and patients in our community,” said program manager Rob Spivey.
