PHI MRO Services, a division of the Louisiana-based helicopter operator PHI, has agreed to be the system integrator for the new Helix integrated flight deck for turbine helicopters. The Helix flight deck is being developed by Avidyne Corporation and Innovative Solutions & Support.
The Helix flight deck will initially be certified for the Sikorsky S-76C++ helicopter, and the partners see “plenty of opportunity for follow-on programs and platforms for the Helix,” said John Talmadge, Avidyne’s v-p of worldwide sales. PHI (Booth C3820) will also offer retrofits and other support for the Helix flight deck at its global network of MRO sites.
“We see the Helix system as a terrific upgrade solution for helicopter operators facing legacy avionics obsolescence issues and who want to improve reliability and dispatchability of their fleet,” said Tom Neumann, president of PHI MRO Services.
The new Helix flight deck combines Avidyne’s (Booth C820) Helios flight management system with IS&S’s 10.4-inch (26 cm) flat panel displays to provide state-of-the-art avionics technologies, including 3D synthetic vision, ADS-B weather and traffic data, electronic charts, and satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) capabilities. Pricing of the new Helix flight deck system installation will be announced later this year, following the completion of the integration by PHI MRO Services and the certification.
