Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) president and CEO Mike Adamson kicked off the aviation trade group's 2023 convention today in Orlando, Florida, welcoming members that include avionics manufacturers, installation and repair centers, and service providers. More than 125 exhibitors are expected this week at the event, where attendees from more than 300 companies and organizations in 16 countries can take advantage of over 100 hours of regulatory, business, and technical training sessions.
At this morning’s new product introductions, more than 30 companies highlighted their latest avionics offerings.
During this year’s AEA convention, the association launched AeroCareers.net to help future workers learn more about aviation technical careers and provide information about scholarships and employment opportunities. To further help members deal with workforce issues, AEA is adding a dedicated staffer, Nick Brown, who will be the director of workforce development. At the convention, AEA is holding a session on hiring former military technicians and another by the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance on how to attract more women to technical careers in aviation.
“Workforce is still an issue,” Adamson told AIN, “and probably will be for a number of years. We will be talking about this a lot, and we have focused services we’re launching and adding staff for that. Our focus will be on the pipeline [for future workers].”
