For the last year, Cabin Management Solutions (CMS) has been extremely busy. From an industry perspective, things have not looked like business was picking up but what most didn’t realize was that CMS was busy developing over 20 new parts from the ground up. These new parts comprise what is now 3 distinct product lines; Empire, Elevate and Explore. These new product lines coupled with Evolve and Elite HD Touch Monitors provide an end-to-end solution for business aviation and the VVIP market.
CMS recently finalized the initial turn on and functional checks on a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) project that will provide STC certification and PMA for Empire, Elevate and Explore product lines. Formal ground testing finished up last week and STC flight test is soon to follow. With plenty of nay-sayers discounting the capabilities of CMS, the turn on process went extremely well with formal test commencing in a little under 2 weeks after initial power on and software load on wing.
The complete refurbishment of the BBJ includes new paint, interior and a state-of-the-art cabin management and IFE system. The entire aircraft was meticulously customized for the look and feel that the owner desired in a showpiece where high end finishes and the latest technology was utilized to achieve that look and feel.
The Evolve wireless touch panels are discretely placed throughout the cabin with PED interface as the main point of control for the aircraft owner to control the aircraft systems and entertainment. The Patented Audio/Video 4k 60 distribution system welcomes the owner as he approaches the aircraft allowing for industry-leading seamless Bluetooth 5.0 connection as he walks up the aircraft stairs and maintains connection in all zones of the aircraft during the entire flight. The newly installed 55” and 65” 4K UHD OLED panels provide a crisp, clean picture of not only the movies playing from his iPad but also the newly installed CMS 4K60 Explore moving map with stunning 3D maps and custom aircraft livery.
The pinnacle of the aircraft's audio/video system is listening to the Elevate speaker system throughout the cabin paired with unmatched video quality. The master suite provides a breathtaking Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 system, the likes of which have not been experienced in an aircraft before. The crisp audio tones and thunderous bass powered by an industry first 1000 watt, 10 channel audiophile grade amplifier that provides a sound quality that rivals high-end screening room systems, which is exactly what the owner requested in this refurbishment. The dining room and lounge bring the magic of Dolby Atmos music with a Dolby Atmos 8.4.4 channels of audio. An enveloping experience that has been sought after in VVIP/luxury aircraft for some time is now available to the industry.
When CMS was founded, they focused primarily on a retrofit cabin switch replacement for aging, unsupported aircraft but they quickly realized that there was a need in the market place for a true end-to-end solution from one company. David Feuerhak, CMS VP of Sales elaborates, “When we first took our demo Falcon 900EXy to various MRO’s and OEM partners, we heard loud and clear that the industry needed one company to call for support, one company to call for all of their cabin control and IFE needs. A solution was needed that was scalable and just as well suited in a Citation XLS but also capable enough of handling the cabin of a Boeing BBJ. This is exactly what we set out to do and that chapter in the CMS book will be finished very soon. As the BBJ project comes to a close, CMS is gearing up for the next phase of growth where they go from a research and design organization to one that will increase production and focus on refining the products that they now offer so as to ensure that the products created meet the needs of the industry as a whole.
