Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics plans to break ground later this year on a 28,000-sq-ft addition to its headquarters in Wichita, the company said Thursday. Mid-Continent calls the expansion part of its long-term strategic plan to support immediate and future growth and meet increased customer demand worldwide. The company declined to specify an expected completion date.
“This project is an example of our ongoing commitment to innovation,” said Todd Winter, president and CEO of Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics. “We invest heavily in research and development to propel our industry forward. Expanding our company allows us to grow our manufacturing facilities, in-house design, testing capabilities, and engineering department. This will attract new talent and add well-paying aviation jobs.”
In mid-May, Mid-Continent moved its California facility from Van Nuys 10 miles west to Chatsworth, where the company continues to offer new-product sales and repair services for instruments, avionics, electrical power systems, and accessories. The FAA- and EASA-certified facility provides quick turns and dedicated one-on-one technical support.
Founded in 1964, Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics employs more than 200 employees in Wichita and Chatsworth. A global distribution network supports Mid-Continent customers, and the company’s True Blue Power division delivers certified instruments, avionics, electrical power systems, and lithium-ion batteries. Mid-Continent also operates one of the largest overhaul, exchange, and repair programs in the world.
