Bombardier, in cooperation with Duncan Aviation, will offer Gogo Business Aviation’s 5G air-to-ground (ATG) Avance system on select aircraft models including the Global Express, Global XRS, Global 5000, Global 5500, Global 6000, and Global 6500 aircraft. Customers can have provisions for the system, including the MB-13 antennas, and Gogo’s Avance L5 and X3 line replaceable units, installed at Bombardier service centers or at Duncan Aviation. Bombardier said it expects to make the system available for its Challenger aircraft next year. Avance 5G provides internet service that is eight times faster than 4G systems, up to 80 megabits per second, over most of North America.
“It’s a massive change. It really offers the most enhanced cabin experience that you can get. It's the highest bandwidth with the fastest speeds on the market,” said Paul Sislian, Bombardier evp for aftermarket services and strategy. “Staying seamlessly connected at all times is paramount for our customers, and we are pleased to be working with Duncan Aviation to provide the latest 5G air-to-ground connectivity solutions for our customers’ aircraft.”
“We understand the value our customers place on staying connected,” said Ryan Huss, Duncan v-p of sales and service. “So we are excited to be working with our trusted industry collaborators Bombardier and Gogo on this program to bring the next generation of in-flight connectivity to the market.”
