Sheltair Aviation and Avfuel have awarded six $5,000 scholarships. This is the second annual edition of the Future Takes Flight Scholarship, which enables recipients to further their education within business aviation.
Bailey Pollard of Columbus, Ohio, plans to use the scholarship funds to complete her instrument rating and commercial license. Another recipient, Kyle Keyser, also intends to complete his instrument rating and eventually pursue a career in aerial firefighting.
Lei Huot will be able to cover part of her tuition at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with the Sheltair and Avfuel scholarship money. Her major is in aviation maintenance science, and she is also minoring in aviation line maintenance and computer science.
Joel Mink, another scholarship recipient, will use the money to pay for tuition to earn FAA airframe and powerplant ratings. He is interested in becoming an aviation maintenance technician.
Justin Hernandez and Katrina Kienitz both plan to use the scholarship funds to continue their education. Hernandez's scholarship to help pay for flight school, and Kienitz is working towards a degree in aviation management. She plans to eventually work as a customer service manager at an FBO.
“What a privilege it is to again support such passionate aviators, thereby reinvesting in the business aviation community that has given our operations so much,” remarked Sheltair president Lisa Holland.
