Content Body

Embraer has inked a new agreement with Avfuel that will increase its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) deliveries to one truckload per week at its North American headquarters at Melbourne International Airport (KMLB) in Florida.

The two companies first signed a deal in July 2021 that saw Avfuel deliver one load of Neste-produced blended SAF per quarter to the Sheltair FBO, which provides exclusive sustainable fuel storage and handling for the Brazilian airframer at KMLB.

Under the new delivery schedule, Embraer expects to receive 240,000 gallons of SAF this year. With each 8,000-gallon load representing a 19-tonne reduction in lifecycle CO2 emissions, that equates to 570 tonnes in greenhouse gas emissions savings over the year.

The fuel is used primarily to support flight demonstrations, deliveries, and production test flights from the OEM’s manufacturing facility in Melbourne.

“Embraer’s collaboration with Avfuel and Sheltair marks a pivotal milestone in our journey toward net-zero emission flight operations,” said Embraer Executive Jets president and CEO Michael Amalfitano. “Our continued investment in SAF demonstrates our dedication to reducing emissions today and driving the industry closer to the net-zero aviation goal by 2050.”
