Just seven months after it opened as the third service provider at Hawaii’s Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport (PHKO), Big Island Jet Center reached an impressive milestone this month, selling its one millionth gallon of fuel. The company attributes the achievement to the services, amenities, and customer care it provides.
The Avfuel-branded FBO made its debut in December, just ahead of the holiday season, operating from a temporary facility with a 50,000-gallon fuel farm. Construction on a permanent 7,500-sq-ft terminal on its nine-acre leasehold is underway with an anticipated completion date in the third quarter of 2025.
In the meantime, the facility offers a full suite of capabilities, including rampside vehicle access, indoor and outdoor seating areas, a well-appointed lobby, ground handling, towing, USDA inspections, and catering.
“We are incredibly proud of this achievement, especially in such a short amount of time,” said general manager Tom Owen, general manager. “Our temporary facility has been incredibly well-received, and we are excited about what the future will bring.”
