Today’s connectivity solutions frequently fall short of delivering the truly global, consistent, and enterprise-grade connectivity needed to do business. But that is set to change thanks to Eutelsat OneWeb and their recently completed global constellation of low Earth orbit satellites.

Connectivity to the office, to colleagues, to the markets, and to the cloud are now simply a necessity for any executive. To address that demand, Eutelsat OneWeb has deployed a constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites that will provide high-speed, low-latency inflight connectivity around the globe, including polar routes.

Latency plays an important role in today’s passenger connectivity experience. Latency is the responsiveness of a network and impacts all activities online. Today’s traditional business aviation connectivity services leverage Geostationary satellites, which have a much higher latency than LEO networks. Lower latency drives the ‘speed’ of the connection and directly affects user experience. Accessing corporate VPNs, using cloud-based applications, or participating in video calls all require low latency to function properly. A low latency connection prevents data transfer bottlenecks, synchronization errors, and timeouts which can cause applications to fail or crash.

Unlike other LEO networks, the OneWeb constellation is an enterprise-grade network, and was designed specifically for mobility. Bandwidth for their business aviation customers is not shared with consumers on the ground and is backed by service level guarantees, so flight departments can rely on a consistent, high-speed experience in the air.

In addition, Eutelsat OneWeb has partnered with experienced aviation partners to deliver their solution, leveraging the latest in electronically steerable antenna (ESA) technology. Developed specifically for aviation by aviation specialists, with over 20 airframe STCs already underway, these systems can be installed on any size business aircraft – from turboprops and super light jets to VVIP and bizliners. All equipment is aviation-grade and supported by world-class aviation companies.

The Eutelsat OneWeb Low Earth Orbit (LEO) service is slated to be available Jan 1, 2025, via Distribution Partners Gogo Business Aviation and Satcom Direct.
