Gogo Business Aviation is generating quite a buzz as it nears the launch of Gogo Galileo, the company’s new Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) global broadband satellite service.
Gogo recently announced that it is receiving unprecedented demand for Gogo Galileo HDX, the more compact system that can fit on any size business aircraft from super-light jets and turboprops up to ultra-long-range large-cabin aircraft – and development of dozens of Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) is well underway.
“The response from the industry for Gogo Galileo HDX is at a fever pitch – there’s been a tidal wave of demand as we rapidly approach commercial launch,” said Sergio Aguirre, president and chief operating officer for Gogo. “It’s clear the market is hungry for true aviation-grade LEO satellite broadband connectivity for aircraft of any size around the globe.”
Gogo says demand for Gogo Galileo HDX is greater than it was for Gogo AVANCE L5, which launched in 2017 and quickly became the most widely adopted and fastest-selling inflight connectivity system in business aviation history.
Demand accelerated due to growing accessibility of HDX with Gogo’s dealer network contracting to complete 27 STCs so far, unlocking a total addressable market of more than 18,000 aircraft globally, many of which have never had access to broadband inflight connectivity prior to Gogo Galileo. Additional STC contracts are expected in the coming weeks.
Gogo Galileo HDX is designed to deliver fast, low-latency inflight Wi-Fi to address the increased demand for data-heavy services and applications in use today, as well as emerging technologies in the future. Gogo Galileo HDX is expected to deliver peak speeds up to 60 Mbps, and mean speeds very close to peak at 57 Mbps.
Gogo Galileo State-of-the-Art Mobile Demo Room Coming to a City Near You
Gogo is launching a nationwide tour bringing its interactive Gogo Galileo experience to business aviation professionals across the United States.
The state-of-the-art mobile demo room was designed to give customers and business aviation professionals from across the industry the ability to experience Gogo Galileo.
At each of the tour stops, participants will have the opportunity to experience Gogo’s high-speed, low-latency inflight connectivity solution via the HDX and FDX antenna configurations – the more compact HDX, built to fit any size business aircraft from super light jets and turboprops to larger aircraft, and the larger FDX which delivers best-in-class performance for large-cabin jets.
Anyone attending will be able to “test flight” the inflight internet experience with both antenna configurations using their own devices and experience online activities such as video conferencing, live TV, streaming video, and more, just as they would in their own aircraft at 40,000 feet.
“For anyone curious what reimagined inflight Wi-Fi feels like, we invite you to come experience Gogo Galileo firsthand at one of our tour destinations,” said Aguirre. “We’ll show you what inflight Wi-Fi as fast or faster than your home or office is like and why Gogo Galileo is the right choice for you.”
The traveling exhibit debuted at this year’s National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas.
For anyone who was unable to attend NBAA-BACE, the Gogo Galileo tour will be traveling across the country through early March with stops scheduled at FBOs and airports. Wheels Up Selects Gogo Galileo HDX Fleetwide
Wheels Up announced that it will be adding Gogo Galileo HDX fleetwide. Installations are expected to begin by the middle of 2025, as soon as certifications for Wheels Up aircraft are completed.
“Exceptional onboard Wi-Fi is a central in-flight experience feature our members and customers value when selecting an aircraft,” said George Mattson, CEO for Wheels Up. “Gogo is a long-term proven partner of ours, and their next generation Galileo HDX system is a key element of our fleet modernization plan. We look forward to delivering to our customers best-in-class connectivity as we become one of the first and only domestic fleets in private aviation with standardized satellite Wi-Fi capability.”
Gogo has been conducting flight tests of the Gogo Galileo HDX system on a Challenger 300 and it is performing as planned.
“With Gogo Galileo HDX on board, Wheels Up will be able to offer unparalleled performance to its members and customers on all aircraft it expects to add to its fleet,” Aguirre said. “Today’s business aviation customers expect fast broadband inflight connectivity, and Gogo Galileo HDX will deliver.”
