Content Body

Skytrac Systems has received the first supplemental type certificate (STC) for its DLS-140 Iridium Certus 100 satellite communications system. With speeds of up to 88 kbps, the DLS-140 also taps into 3G/4G cellular networks and provides Wi-Fi connectivity in the helicopter.

STCs are now available for installation of the DLS-140 in the Sikorsky S-92A and Bell 206 and 407. Additional STCs are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year for the Airbus H125, H130, H135, and H145; Leonardo AW119 and AW139; and Sikorsky S-76. With addtional STCs for fixed-wing aircraft, Skytrac expects to deliver more than 400 DLS-140s by the end of the year.

Operators can pair the DLS-140 with Skytrac’s ISAT-200A or use it as a standalone unit for mission-critical operations, according to the company.

“The availablity of the DLS-140 will benefit our customers seeking a lightweight but powerful connectivity solution and further strengthen the capabilities of Skytrac’s existing solutions,” said director of product development Iain Ronis.
