Gogo has completed its first South American installation of the Galileo HDX airborne connectivity system on a Brazil-based Embraer Phenom 300E operated by JBJ Agropecuária. The installation, conducted by Brazilian MRO provider TAM Aviação Executiva, was performed under a supplemental type certificate developed by Germany’s Atlas Air Service and approved by EASA. Validation by Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency is pending.

The upgrade brings high-speed broadband capability to the aircraft via a compact, electronically steered antenna (ESA) linked to the Eutelsat OneWeb low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite constellation.

In addition to the Gogo Galileo HDX system, which comprises a half-duplex ESA and the Gogo Avance SCS, the aircraft was outfitted with Gogo Vision 360 for in-flight entertainment and connected services. According to Gogo, the new system will support in-flight broadband access, enhanced weather monitoring, flight planning tools, and real-time operational data collection.

“We regularly fly across Brazil and South America, so we immediately saw the value of adding the Gogo Galileo HDX connectivity system to our aircraft,” said JBJ Agropecuária CEO José Batista Júnior. “Knowing that the crew’s operational capabilities will be strengthened will make our flight department more operationally and financially efficient.”

Gogo’s Brazil-based dealer network handled the project locally, following its acquisition of Satcom Direct. The integration is expected to streamline support for regional operators by offering a full portfolio of connectivity solutions through a single point of contact.

“This is the first time we’ve worked with JBJ Agropecuária,” said Ewerton Libanio, managing director of Gogo Brazil. “Their immediate interest indicates that the broad suite of Gogo products and services is a welcome addition to the South American market.”

The provider confirmed that discussions are underway to equip additional aircraft in the JBJ fleet, and that talks with other South American operators are advancing.
