At its Aero Friedrichshafen exhibit this week, Garmin is highlighting a variety of avionics solutions, which are approved by EASA for retrofit into airplanes and helicopters.

The GI 275 electronic instrument is now certified for installation in Part 27 helicopters and can replace legacy attitude indicators, course deviation indicators, horizontal situation indicators, and multi-function displays. Capable of fitting into a standard 3.125-inch instrument panel hole, the GI 275 features a bright touchscreen display and dual concentric knob for adjusting various functions.

EASA has also approved the Garmin G5000 integrated flight deck upgrade for the Textron Aviation Citation XLS+ and XLS Gen2. The package was previously approved for the Citation Excel and XLS and features three high-resolution 14-inch displays, two touchscreen controllers, and optional GWX 8000 StormOptix digital radar and connectivity devices. The XLS+ and XLS Gen2 retrofit also allows buyers to use two GI 275s as standby attitude directional indicators.

For European owners of Cirrus SR series G3 and G5 piston singles, Garmin’s Perspective+ upgrade is now certified.

Other recent approvals include Garmin’s GDM 450R remote-mount DME, which allows tracking of two separate DME stations simultaneously. EASA approval is expected shortly for Garmin’s GDL 60 datalink, which enables its PlaneSync remote communications technology.
