Avflight today inaugurated its new FBO at Cherry Capital Airport (KTVC) in Traverse City, Michigan. The Avfuel sister company is the lone service provider on the field, and its just-constructed 6,000-sq-ft terminal replaced a smaller, more-than-four-decade-old structure that was torn down.
Designed to reflect the natural beauty and character of northern Michigan, the new facility features floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed wood beams, a large gas fireplace, and an enclosed outdoor patio. There is a host of amenities, including a pilot lounge, snooze rooms, a six-seat conference room, and a freezer packed with local favorite Moomers ice cream.
The facility has 80,000 sq ft of hangar space capable of accommodating ultra-long-range business jets. Future plans include construction of private, built-to-suit box hangars offering customizable space for long-term aircraft storage.
“From the design and amenities to the exceptional service our team provides, every detail was thoughtfully considered to create a memorable experience for guests,” said Joe Meszaros, Avflight’s senior v-p of operations, who described the facility as uniquely northern Michigan. “This investment reflects our commitment to the Traverse City community and our excitement for the future of aviation at Cherry Capital Airport.”
For Avflight, this is the second new FBO it opened in its home state this month. Earlier, it debuted its new facility at Detroit Coleman A. Young International Airport (KDET).
