When an aircraft inlet sustains significant damage, the repair can require much more than addressing what is visible on the surface.
In this video, Derek Taylor, Composite Technician, takes us inside the DAS Aviation shop as the team works on a Bombardier Global Express inlet with damage to the inner barrel, screens, honeycomb and lip.
To complete the repair, the inlet is extensively disassembled, including removing the skin, rivets and fasteners to access the damaged internal components. The inlet lip is also being replaced due to significant denting and surface damage that cannot be addressed through a less extensive repair.
