AgustaWestland Selects Thales Sonars for ASW Lynx

AgustaWestland has chosen Thales’s Flash Compact range of dipping sonars to equip Lynx helicopters for export markets. According to Thales, the lightweight sonars, featuring a fully electric reeling machine, allow smaller helicopters to have high-performance sonar capability for anti-submarine warfare. The Flash sonars have already been installed for helicopters operated by the following navies: France (NH90 aircraft); UK (Merlin EH101); Norway (NH90); U.S. (MH60-R); Sweden (NH90) and the UAE (Cougar).

The announcement was made at the Aero India show in Bangalore, where Thales is demonstrating its expertise in advanced air defense technology, communications systems, naval systems, optronics and avionics.
