Content Body
Pratt & Whitney’s F119 engine that powers the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor has recently surpassed 500,000 engine flight hours, achieved in more than 200,000 flights. The F-22 entered service in 2005, production totaling 187. The last of the F119 engines was supplied for the U.S. Air Force’s Raptor fleet in January 2013. Pratt & Whitney expects to sustain the engines in service for three or four more decades. The F135 engine used in the F-35 was derived from the F119.
