California-based Marvin Test Solutions (MTS; Hall 3, Stand C38), which designs and manufactures test systems for military and commercial aerospace applications, is showcasing its MTS-3060A SmartCan Universal O-Level test set. The company has recently customized this test set for a “major international customer” who has been able to “replace multiple legacy flightline test sets with a single handheld solution that supports weapon system maintenance and sustainment across the aircraft fleet.”
The MTS SmartCan is able to support legacy and smart armament systems on current and future military aircraft, including UAS. It weighs less than four pounds, yet incorporates more than 30 measurement channels, electronic loads, multiple communications interfaces (MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, MMSI, Ethernet, CAN Bus, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485), video and audio signal generators, and an innovative test language that further reduces development and integration costs.
The SmartCan also supports testing the interfaces employed on the JDAM and AIM-120 weapon systems, and can accommodate multiple profiles to reference different blocks and aircraft types. A result, the company said, it is “a single test solution, reducing complexity and test footprint.”
In turn, the SmartCan is supported by the company’s knowledge base, which includes a series of white papers and articles. These topics include testing subjects such as combat helicopters and their armaments; modernizing legacy automated testing systems at depots; flightline tests of laser-guided munitions; and testing of F-35 armaments, maintenance, and sustainment.
Marvin Test Solutions also offers the TS-700, “a preconfigured, modular test platform that addresses a range of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and avionics test needs.” The TS-700 is based on the GX7102A PXI platform and offers engineers a “preconfigured, compact, 3U/6U system.”
Similar to the SmartCan, MTS says each TS-700 can be customized for specific applications by incorporating more than 10 different standard analog, digital, and communication test resources. The TS-700 platform is supplied with ATEasy software, providing an integrated and complete executive and development environment, allowing users to quickly develop and maintain test applications.
A range of TS-700 models are available and each is easily customized for specific applications by incorporating standard TS-700 instrument options. Additionally, the platform can be further customized by incorporating 3U or 6U PXI/cPCI modules.
