Content Body

Israeli electro-optic (EO) manufacturer Controp will be introducing the MD-STAMP, a new EO payload for small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) at the Singapore Airshow 2020. It will be displayed alongside the T-STAMP-XD and STAMP-VMD, which will be on show in Asia for the first time.

The MD-STAMP is described as a miniaturized version of the T-STAMP-XD used on Group 1 and Group 2 UAVs. Compared to its larger predecessor, which weighs 5.75kg (12.7 pounds), the MD-STAMP weighs less than 1 kg and possesses laser-designation surveillance and targeting system capabilities for Group 1 UAVs. Group 1 UAVs are classified to be less than 9kg (20 pounds), while Group 2 UAV range between 10 kg and 25 kg. Both the T-STAMP-XD and STAMP-VMD were first unveiled at the DSEI 2019 show in London.

Controp said that all three payloads are currently operational but has declined to provide specific platforms. Its other products, such as the M-STAMP, are seen mounted on the Bluebird Aero Systems SpyLite tactical UAVs.

“In highlighting these three new STAMP products at the Singapore Airshow 2020, we continue to show our commitment to our customers in Southeast Asia in providing the most advanced solutions to this important region,” said Johnny Carni, Controp's v-p of marketing for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, in a statement, and added that the company had recently secured a significant repeat order from a customer in the region.
