Content Body

The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has signed a 10-year service support agreement with Bombardier for two recently delivered Global 6500s. Signed on behalf of the Swedish Armed Forces, the contract enrolls the multi-role aircraft into Bombardier’s Smart Services Defense program, offering round-the-clock access to Bombardier’s service and support network.

Bombardier stated that this program “provides comprehensive cost coverage for parts, including landing gear and auxiliary power unit, labor, ground support equipment, engineering expertise, technical assistance, access to mobile response teams, and shipping costs.”

The modified jets, delivered in June via Bombardier Defense, will be primarily used in a VIP transport role. They will operate through the 75th Swedish Civil Aviation Squadron at Skaraborg’s F7 Air Fleet, based at Arlanda Airport. Designated the TP 106 in Swedish military service, the units will replace a Gulfstream IV and G550, while providing commonality with Sweden’s upcoming Saab GlobalEye AEW&C aircraft.

Acquisition of the new platforms was carried out through what the FMV termed “a targeted deal” with Bombardier, worth a total of SEK 1.1 billion ($113 million). The agency was tasked with replacing Sweden’s existing state aircraft in the first quarter of 2025, with a formal purchase made in May. The FMV stated the “rapid delivery was made possible by the fact that the aircraft had already been manufactured and had previously been used within the framework of the supplier’s demo operations.”
