Eve Air Mobility has appointed more suppliers for its eVTOL air taxi, including the windows, doors, and other elements of the fuselage. The Embraer subsidiary is assembling the first full-scale prototype of its four-passenger aircraft in Taubaté, Brazil and aims to begin flight testing later this year.
KRD Luftfahrttechnik will provide its Kasiglas polycarbonate windows for the cockpit and cabin. According to Eve, the Kasiglas material helps to minimize the aircraft’s weight while enhancing its impact resistance. The German manufacturer describes the product as “lighter than glass, highly transparent, unbreakable and shatterproof, impact-resistant, [and] abrasion-resistant.”
French aerostructures group Latécoère will supply the doors for Eve’s eVTOL aircraft. The company already supplies doors for Embraer’s jets, as well as aircraft built by Airbus, Boeing, and Bombardier.
Two other Embraer suppliers in Brazil have also signed on as suppliers for Eve. RALLC, a company specializing in machining and molding, will manufacture various structural components of the fuselage. Meanwhile, Alltec will supply its thermoplastic and thermoset composite materials.
These four supplier selections, which Eve revealed June 5, are the latest in a wave of supplier announcements the company has made this year. Other recently appointed suppliers for Eve’s eVTOL aircraft include Thales, Honeywell, Korea Aerospace Industries, and Aciturri.
“Eve has assembled a strong list of global and local suppliers with a reputation for not only delivering outstanding quality, but doing so reliably,” said Eve CEO Johann Bordais. “These long-term relationships will cover the aircraft’s entire life cycle including all prototypes, production and aftermarket service and operational support.”
