Flight training group CAE will help Eve Air Mobility train pilots, mechanics, and ground handling staff for the company’s four-passenger eVTOL aircraft. Under an agreement announced on October 31, the Embraer-CAE Training Services (ECTS) will serve as training provider as part of the Eve TechCare program to support eVTOL operators.
CAE has been in the joint venture with Eve’s parent company, Embraer, since 2007. It mainly provides training for flight and ground crew operating the Brazilian airframer’s Phenom 100 and 300 business jets. According to Florida-based Eve, it holds letters of intent for 2,900 of its eVTOL aircraft from 30 customers in 13 countries.
“Safety will be essential to the adoption and growth of advanced air mobility, and highly trained personnel are key to safe operations,” said Alexandre Prevost, CAE’s division president for Business Aviation Training and a board member of ECTS. “As part of the long-term agreement, CAE will be responsible for producing all equipment and courseware for pilot, maintenance, and ground handling training for Eve Air Mobility. CAE continues to make significant investments in AAM to deliver innovative and immersive products and training solutions that are specifically tailored to the industry and today’s learners.”
On October 30, Eve announced Citibank had approved a $50 million bank loan to support development work on the eVTOL aircraft. The company said the loan takes its pro forma liquidity to around $480 million when combined with the $95.6 million in equity funding it announced in July, when it rolled out the first prototype example of the eVTOL.
