At the Guimbal Helicopters booth (7123), Middle Georgia State University is displaying one of its recently delivered Guimbal Cabri G2 training helicopters. After examining the helicopter at last year’s Heli-Expo, the college ordered a pair of them for its flight training program, where they will join three Schweizer 300 CBi’s and a Robinson R44 on the rotary-wing side. Georgia’s only state-funded collegiate flight program, the school takes pride in its two decades of accident-free training.
“We chose the Cabri for its modern technology, ease of maintenance and safety features, said Robert Hobbs, the university’s floor maintenance supervisor. “We hope it allows us to continue our immaculate safety record and increases our fleet up-time.”
The school’s flight instructors recently completed their familiarization with the new helicopters, conducted by Oregon-based Precision Aviation Training, which partnered with Guimbal in 2014 to distribute the Cabri to the U.S. market.
