EIT Avionics (Booth C1952) of Leesburg, Virginia, announced this week at Heli-Expo 2018 that all three of its products—its Flight Operations Data Recorder (FODR), Enhanced Situational Awareness Information Display (ESAID), and Height Above Terrain Radar (HAT-R)—are now in flight test. Graphics and touchscreens have been improved, and detection and annunciation of low-G conditions have been added.
FODR is planned to permanently record 2,200 hours of operational data and provide owners and operators access to data for maintenance and enhance flight crew performance and flight training. FODR-recorded data can also assist accident investigations.
ESAID displays non-required, safety-enhancing data for use by the flight crew, recording pneumatic and engine data at two times per second. Rotor, engine, airspeed and altitude limitations are displayed in a graphic format. HAT-R is an advanced radar system that uses a single, light-weight antenna measures the aircraft’s height above the surface.
