Redbird Flight Simulations (Booth C926) of Austin, Texas, recently clinched a sale for its VTO helicopter trainer from Genesa Flight Academy in Indonesia. Delivery of the flight training device is scheduled for June. Genesa currently operates a Redbird MCX for fixed-wing aircraft proficiency training.

According to Redbird, the VTO's motion system provides cues so small, precise, and quick that the pilot feels the slightest deviations before ever seeing them in the visuals. This enables students to practice the most difficult of basic helicopter skills—hovering and autorotation—in a ground trainer before doing them in a real aircraft.

“After integrating the Rebird MCX into our private and commercial training, we believe the VTO will provide the ideal classroom to expand our operations,” said Jok Prayogo of Genesa Flight Training. The flight academy—located in Cilacap—was founded in 2012 by Rubyanto Adisarwono.
