The Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) opens its 61st Annual International Convention & Trade Show next week in Las Vegas. More than 130 exhibitors are showcasing their wares and services at the MGM Grand Las Vegas and sharing the latest in avionics technology with an expected 1,600 attendees, which includes avionics professionals, equipment manufacturers and distributors, and repair station personnel.

The trade show’s signature new-product introductions, which highlight the latest avionics and services, kicks off on Monday morning. More than 75 hours of regulatory, technical, and business management training and professional development courses will be offered during the show, which closes on Thursday afternoon.

Universal Avionics is inviting avionics dealers and integrators to learn how to configure its InSight Display System integrated avionics suite during a workshop on Tuesday. The workshop covers Universal’s External Configuration Editor, a web-based application for pre-design and system configuration.

On Monday, the day’s events begin with the "Regulatory Rise & Shine" session, where “specific topics are driven by the regulatory agenda, international agreements, and new technologies being introduced,” according to AEA.

Further discussion of regulatory issues takes place on the following two mornings at the AEA regulatory forums, where FAA personnel from the Flight Standards Service and Aircraft Certification Service will highlight FAA modernization efforts and progress and answer questions from attendees.

Most avionics manufacturers are holding training sessions for their products during the show, and others, such as Satcom Direct, are addressing important issues such as cybersecurity. There are also sessions on repair station training, troubleshooting, finance and accounting, insurance, retirement, raising capital, marketing, and regional roundtables targeting AEA members from Canada, Latin America, and the South Pacific.

AIN will publish news from the AEA show in next week’s AINalerts and highlights from the new-product introductions via Twitter.
