Helicopter services company CHC Group has named a new CEO and his deputy. David Balevic has been named president and chief executive officer and was appointed as a member of the board of managers. Balevic had been serving as interim CEO since the resignation of Karl Fessenden in July. Balevic joined CHC in May 2015 as senior vice president, engineering, and operations following a diversified 26-year career at GE. He holds a master’s in aerospace engineering from the University of Cincinnati and completed his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University.

Balevic’s deputy will be Imran Hayat, who was appointed CHC executive vice president, general counsel, and chief strategy officer. Hayat joined CHC in July 2015 and was appointed general counsel and chief administrative officer in February 2018. Hayat holds a bachelor’s in economics and diplomacy and world affairs from Occidental College, and a law degree from the Hastings College of Law at the University of California. In his new role, Hayat will be responsible for the development of CHC’s corporate strategy and executing legal, compliance, risk, insurance, fleet strategy, human resources, and communications.

John Gremp, chairman of CHC Board of Managers said, “Both Dave and Imran were well prepared to step into these critical leadership roles. The board of managers is confident they will enable us to accelerate the company’s transformation and drive a profitable, sustainable business model.”
