Cirrus Aircraft today launched a web-based aircraft configurator that allows customers to virtually spec out a SR-series piston aircraft or SF50 Vision Jet. After selecting an aircraft model, users can then tailor it by choosing an exterior design and color, as well as interior hue and leather options.
When completed, the configurator shows the aircraft in 3D and in realistic 360-degree animations. The detailed representation also illustrates how mechanisms work, such as how the doors open.
It can also be exported into a PDF file with 3D aircraft views and detailed performance and specification information that can be easily shared with friends and family.
“The aircraft configurator is another step in our evolution of delivering a connected, world-class experience for our customers,” said Cirrus Aircraft CEO Zean Nielsen. “The configurator invites people to learn more about our aircraft, technology, and safety systems and then design and share their dream aircraft.”
Future versions of the configurator will enable customers to specify optional equipment and packages such as the SR22 Cirrus Executive package that adds a yaw damper and an enhanced vision system. The company also plans to add virtual reality viewing capability.
