Content Body

Women in Aviation International (WAI) has partnered with Harvard University to launch a leadership training program tailored for emerging female leaders within the aviation and aerospace sectors. The program, titled "Women in Leadership: A Program for Emerging Leaders," is scheduled to run from May 7 to 9 at Harvard’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

This initiative, supported by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, The Boeing Company, and United Airlines, aims to equip participants with essential business concepts and leadership skills. The course includes three days of on-campus instruction followed by a day of remote leadership coaching. Participants will interact with Harvard faculty to discuss the practical application of their skills post-completion.

Upon completing the course, participants will receive a certificate from Harvard University, acknowledging their development in leadership competencies. WAI’s chief operating officer, Stephanie Kenyon, remarked, “Women CEOs make up only about 3% of the industry. Helping women advance into leadership roles is key to changing the culture of the aviation industry. We are committed to promoting environments where women feel welcomed, are valued, and can be successful.”

The 2024 class comprises WAI members from diverse international backgrounds, including Australia, India, Japan, the Netherlands, Zimbabwe, and the U.S. A positive outcome from the inaugural Class of 2023 was observed, with 90% of participants advancing in their careers through promotions, new leadership roles, or increased responsibilities.
