Airlink, the disaster logistics nonprofit, has secured a record $17.39 million in financial and in-kind support from leading aviation companies including the GE Aerospace Foundation, Airbus Foundation, United Airlines, Qatar Airways, American Airlines, and the Woodward Charitable Trust. The funding will help Airlink expand its free air transport and logistics coordination for more than 250 non-government organization (NGO) partners.
“The commitments by our prestigious partners, whether new or consistent, demonstrate their dedication to populations affected by disasters worldwide,” said Airlink president and CEO Steve Smith.
Founded in 2010, Airlink has helped more than 63 million people in 97 countries by facilitating transport for humanitarian aid and responders. Support from aviation industry leaders is critical as NGOs face mounting supply chain costs—up to 73% of budgets—according to recent UN data.
United Airlines, Airlink’s longest-serving partner, committed $4.2 million in cash and flight support. American Airlines pledged 60 million miles and 450 tonnes of cargo lift over three years, while Qatar Airways renewed its 500-tonne commitment. The Airbus Foundation announced €7.5 million in support, and GE Aerospace Foundation pledged $1 million for 2025.
“Our partnership with Airlink is a cornerstone of the GE Aerospace Foundation’s efforts to leverage aviation’s important role lifting people up after disasters strike,” said Meghan Thurlow, president of the GE Aerospace Foundation.
New donor Woodward Charitable Trust granted $1 million to mark Airlink’s 15th anniversary, reinforcing its logistics capacity to support global disaster response.
