Garmin Axis Flight Display Earns FAA and EASA Approval

Garmin’s Axis integrated flight display family received FAA supplemental type certificate (STC) approval and EASA certification for its 11.6-inch displays, clearing the way for installations across certified piston twin and single experimental and light sport aircraft.

Axis is compatible with existing G3X Touch panel cutouts and mounting points, giving current G3X Touch owners an upgrade path without panel modification. The flight display integrates IFR GPS navcom and an audio panel into a single display unit, a combination the company says is an industry first for twin and single piston certified, experimental, and light sport aircraft.

The 11.6-inch displays are available, with FAA and EASA Technical Standard Order (TSO) certification. Eight-inch displays in portrait and landscape configurations are expected in early 2027. Coverage for certified aircraft comes via an approved model list STC spanning hundreds of twin- and single-engine models, with twin EIS support expected in the future. 

The display can be configured as a primary flight display or multi-function display, with an optional EIS. The integrated navcom radio offers 10 watts of transmit power with 8.33-kHz frequency tuning. The built-in four-place intercom audio panel includes dual-com switching and Bluetooth for music and phone calls.
