Description
Possible rule changes by Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority would require smaller airplanes used in Part 135 operations to install terrain awareness and warning systems (TAWS). A consultation period underway would mandate the installation of TAWS in Part 135 turbine airplanes with a maximum takeoff weight of 5,700 kilograms (12,566 pounds) or less that either have a maximum passenger seat configuration between 10-13 seats or can carry 10 or more people. The consultation comment period closes on Oct. 24, 2023.
