Description

Transport Canada (TC) proposes to update small and large rotorcraft airworthiness certification standards by incorporating state-of-the-art technology that would reduce a paperwork and time-consuming burden for both the government and industry. Currently, TC Canada addresses changes to technology by issuing reoccurring special conditions, findings of equivalent safety, and means of compliance issue papers. These three processes are necessary to address new design features for which airworthiness standards are lacking, compliance with a standard cannot be achieved, or alternative methods of compliance must be proposed and adopted. By updating the standards as proposed, these three processes would be unnecessary. Comments on the proposal are due by Dec. 12, 2023.
