The European Union Aviation Safety Agency has proposed revising small helicopter certification regulations to provide proportionate and cost-efficient rules to enable the use of the latest technology for equipment, systems, and installations. The proposal aims to modify the application of stringent safety objectives to simpler small rotorcraft, which currently creates a cost barrier to innovation and the installation of state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, the proposed changes will increase harmonization of safety assessment provisions for rotorcraft with FAA equivalents. Also, this notice contains proposals that improve the clarity of the requirements for electrical installations for larger rotorcraft. Comments on the proposal are due Jan. 26, 2022.
