Description
The FAA on Dec. 9, 2021 issued new airworthiness directives (ADs) for all transport and commuter category airplanes and helicopters equipped with radar altimeters. These ADs were prompted by a determination that radio altimeters cannot be relied upon if they experience interference from the 5G frequency band. The ADs require revising the AFM to prohibit certain operations using radio altimeter data in the presence of known 5G Band interference as identified by notams. Although the ADs were published as a final rule, the FAA is seeking comments by Jan. 24, 2022 on recommended changes.
