Description

Starting Aug, 1, 2024, dogs entering or re-entering the U.S. must meet new, specific requirements depending on where they have been in the past six months, when they will arrive in the country, and where they received their rabies vaccines (if required). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) rules apply to all dogs, including puppies and service animals. If denied entry, dogs will be sent back to the last country of departure at owners’ expense. Country of departure is where the last trip originated—not where the dog was born or where it lives. Until Aug 1, 2024, the CDC has extended its temporary suspension of dog importation from high-risk dog rabies countries.
