Jaunt Air Mobility is preparing for the production phase of its eVTOL aircraft program by engaging Global Partner Solutions (GPSI) to develop its supply chain. Under a memorandum of understanding signed this week, Jaunt’s design and manufacturing division in Montreal, GPSI will manage all aspects of the supply chain for the company’s Journey aircraft.

GPSI will seek to recruit suppliers in Quebec to support manufacturing as part of a plan to make this process as sustainable as possible. Jaunt, which is headquartered in Dallas and is part of the Airo Group, is handling all aspects of design, manufacturing, flight testing, and certification.

Jaunt aims to get approval for the aircraft in 2027 under Transport Canada’s Part 529 rules, and subsequently under the FAA’s Part 27 and Part 29 requirements. Two of the company's private investors are Canadian entrepreneurs.

The partners said that over the next three years, more than C$10 million will be invested to develop the program’s supply chain, creating up to 35 jobs in the process. “Quebec is very well positioned to become a leader in the future aviation industry, thanks to the expertise and agility of expert companies like GPSI,” said Jaunt Air Mobility Canada president Eric Côté.

Slow Rotor Compound Reduces Drag

The Journey eVTOL has both a fixed wing and a rotor, using Jaunt’s patented slow rotor compound technology, which reduces drag and vibration by lowering the speed of the rotor to about 10 rpm during cruise flight. The aircraft, which will carry four passengers and a pilot, is expected to have a range of between 80 to 120 miles and a top speed of 175 mph.

Initially, the Journey will have an all-electric propulsion system, but Jaunt is working with VerdeGo Aero on a hybrid-electric powertrain that would support a longer range. Other key program partners include BAE Systems (fly-by-wire systems and power management), CAE (training and simulation), Qarbon Aerospace (composite structures), and L&T Technology Services (engineering and digital platform).
